Saint Augustine
November 15, 2010
We are 106 miles from our first major stop, Vero Beach. My sister lives south in Fort Pierce and we are spending Thanksgiving with her family
Tuesday we are going to see Jim, our son, who is living in Orlando. He will meet us in Titusville. We plan to arrive in Vero Beach on Friday.
Our favorite stop since the last journal was St. Augustine. We stayed on a mooring ball. The current was so fast and it was so choppy we had the water taxi (disguised as a pump out boat) take us to shore.
We walked all afternoon taking in the historic sites. It is a great town with its rich Spanish architecture and culture. The St. Augustinians were warm and gracious.
It seems that everywhere we stop, someone says,”You should have been here yesterday, we had… or … Next week we are having this….” Well were right on time for Pirate Fest!!!! It started on Saturday. In the morning we dingy’d to shore and spent the day walking around gawking at the pirates. People from all over come dressed as pirates. Rather than tell you about our experiences, we have a slide show for you to view. The whole thing was a hoot.
