Today was always a special time for us. Today is the last day of school before Christmas. It is a time of excitement for students and relief for teachers.
This will be our 4th Christmas living on the boat. Christmas doesn’t have the frenzied excitement that accompanied the last day of school, but it has a serenity and peacefulness that we hadn’t experienced before retirement.
This year we witnessed the joy of Christmas lights. Hundreds of people gathered at the Plaza de la Constitucion for the ceremonial illumination of St. Augustine, Florida. With the flick of a switch millions of lights decorated the city. Every evening people flocked to the plaza to revel in beauty of the Christmas spirit; you could feel their excitement. Then the weather grew colder. We traded the beauty of St Augustine for the warmth of Stuart, just a couple of hundred miles south. Earlier I should have said serenity, peacefulness and warmth.
We wish for you, our friends, a Christmas and Holiday Season that is filled with serenity, peace, and warmth of spirit.
